Each year, Fiesta del Sol seeks energetic volunteers of the Fiesta del Sol committee. Volunteers at Fiesta del Sol are exposed to, and learn leadership skills, team work. All while having fun! Are you ready to get involved? Both you and your volunteer time are greatly appreciated.
Art Expo
We invite local artists (of all avenues) to showcase their talents – to educate visitors about art in Pilsen. At the same time, our artists have the opportunity to engage and market themselves directly to the community. The art and culture is found all over the grounds of the festival; however if you are looking for an art fair, and engage art and craft-making, make sure to stop by the Art and Culture Pavilion.
College Week Expo
Every year, during Fiesta del Sol, the University Round Table leads the College Week Expo, where Chicago students and parents, have the opportunity to obtain valuable information to start or continue. their college pathway.
Housing Expo
The House Expo will provide a variety of free housing resources in English and Spanish including information about CHA programs, affordable housing, housing legal assistance and advice, foreclosure prevention and assistance, tenant and landlord rights and advocacy, housing opportunities for individuals with disabilities, fair housing, housing fraud, and first-time homeowner workshops.
Fiesta del Sol Opening Reception and Scholarship Awards Ceremony
Every year just a week from Fiesta del Sol, we organize the Fiesta del Sol Opening Reception and Scholarship Awards Ceremony. If you like to plan events, have a knack for detail and enjoy working with different vendors, this may be for you. The Opening Reception is attended by over 600 people each year that come from diverse institutions and organizations, such as elected officials, community leaders, families, media, and sponsors of the event and Fiesta del Sol.
Recorrido del Sol and Illinois Dream Fund 5K Run and Walk
The Recorrido del Sol and Illinois Dream Fund 5K is a Fundraiser for Pilsen Neighbors Community Council (PNCC). The Recorrido del sol will create opportunities for runner involvement in an effort to raise funds for scholarships. The Recorrido del Sol is the first major running event from the Pilsen community to benefit first generation Latino college students from Chicago’s Southwest side. The Recorrido del Sol takes place along Chicago’s scenic lakefront.
Children’s Area
The Children’s Area at Fiesta del Sol is place where children can play, read, and interact with other children. Our mission at the Children’s area is to be able to provide fun educational activities, such as reading out loud sessions, face painting, books and all sorts of educational games and activities for fun during the four days. Bring your children! They will love it!
Keeping Healthy Expo
Alivio Medical Center recognizes the issue of chronic health disease such as diabetes and obesity — largely due to a poor health environment, poverty, and risky behavior. To address these issues, Alivio Medical Center, in conjunction with Fiesta del Sol, have identified the “Keeping Healthy Campaign.” At the Keeping Healthy Campaign, we want to encourage a healthy lifestyle, good eating and exercise habits, stress reduction, healthy cooking, diabetes and high-blood pressure prevention and weight control.
Citizenship and Immigration Expo
This is a committee focused on immigration resources. The last two years we have hosted Pro-Bono consultations with immigration attorneys, where the participants have the opportunity of meeting with the attorney and ask them any immigration-related questions.

Join our exciting team of photographers, graphic artists, social media buffs, writers, and savvy communicators to help promote activities surrounding the largest Latino festival in the Midwest!
School Expo
At the Pilsen Schools Expo at Fiesta del Sol, Pilsen-based school representatives will bring parents and other visitors, information about unique programs offered in Pilsen in efforts to increase parent involvement, boost student recruitment, and provide information that will impact the future of students in the Pilsen community. Visitors will get the opportunity to talk to school representatives then and there, and receive free information.
