On Saturday, July 29th on the Fiesta del Sol main stage at 12:30 pm the Record Clearing Expo will be hosting a conversation about wellness, medical and business opportunities in the cannabis industry.
The Record Clearing Expo and Education Series is a form of reclaiming restorative justice by targeting the Latino community in Pilsen and surrounding areas. This initiative mainly focuses on helping community members start the record-clearing process, so they can clear their criminal records that act as obstacles to living productive lives.
Participants will have the opportunity to search for their records, sign up to obtain a free RAP sheet & other wraparound services at a future event, and will receive pro-bono consultations to those interested in learning about the process of expungement, as well as referrals to legal aid organizations to contact for follow-up.
Beyond providing these services, we plan to engage community members who are curious about cannabis in any way through a live panel on Saturday the 29th at 12:30 pm in the Fiesta del Sol main Stage to help them learn about everything this plan has to offer, including medicine, business, culture, and more.
Goals of the Record Clearing Expo:
-Break the stigma on cannabis in the Latino community by providing an educational panel with voices from the community.
-Provide impactful record clearing & reentry education & services, so community members can address systemic barriers in their lives.
