Location: Fiesta del Sol Expos Pavilion (Cermak and Racine parking lot).

Dates: Thursday, July 27th to Sunday, July 30th from 1 pm – 6 pm.

The Environmental Justice Expo looks to provide a space for leaders in the community to address environmental issues affecting Pilsen and the surrounding Chicagoland Area by advocating, educating, and organizing interested community residents. Community and outreach organizations will provide resources and expertise on various environmental topics, including environmental justice, energy efficiency, solar energy, electric vehicles, conservation, and more. Each organization will also present action items to encourage community members to become more involved in the environmental justice movement and raise awareness of related issues.

Environmental justice is a movement that acknowledges the various social, economic, public health, and other adverse impacts that climate change can have on communities, particularly minority communities that bear a disproportionate burden. These communities often face higher exposure to environmental hazards, such as pollution and extreme weather events, due to factors like limited access to resources, discriminatory policies, and historical injustices.
